FSU Star Jordan Travis Ranked As A Top Ten Quarterback in 2024 NFL Draft Class

PFF's Trevor Sikkema dubs Travis as one of the top quarterbacks in the 2024 NFL Draft Class.

Florida State quarterback Jordan Travis is entering his sixth season playing college football. He's played his way up mostly through Florida State's system and will be playing his fourth season under head coach Mike Norvell.

Last season, Travis was able to play 13 games as the full-time starter, and he showed out. The Seminoles were able to achieve a 10-win season for the first time since 2016, Jimbo Fisher's last full season.

Leading the Seminoles to such a surprising season has helped Travis gain respect. PFF's Trevor Sikkema lists Travis as the sixth-best quarterback in the 2024 NFL draft class:

The Florida State quarterback recorded an elite 90.4 passing grade on true dropbacks in 2022 and a group-leading 8.5% big-time throw percentage on those same plays. He also finished with a 1.9% turnover-worthy play percentage on the year, 12th among 155 qualifying FBS quarterbacks.

He doesn’t pass the “eye test” for a quarterback, as he measures in at 6-foot-1 and 212 pounds, 14th and 19th percentile for the position, respectively. But there’s a fearlessness and natural talent in him that overcomes those size issues.

As Sikkema mentions, Travis doesn't quite fit the "eye test" for a quarterback, but this is almost in his favor as a dual-threat quarterback. Sure, if he was bigger, he could gain extra hard-earned yards by breaking tackles, but Travis relies on his effort for that part. Being just 212 pounds, Travis relies on his elusiveness and foot speed in both the passing game and running game.

Travis threw for 3,214 yards last season, picking up 24 passing touchdowns to his five interceptions. He tacked on 417 yards on the ground and walked into the end zone on seven different occasions. Though the Seminoles and Norvell can have a rush-heavy offense at times, Travis has learned how to thrive in the system for the betterment of both aspects of his game.

The Seminoles are due for a huge season, and the driver of that big season will be Travis and his leadership both on and off the field. With a great wide receiver room and Trey Benson at his side as the running back, Florida State may be able to capitalize by making a College Football Playoffs appearance or taking care of business in the ACC by winning a conference championship. If either of those happens, Travis' stock for the NFL will jump even further.
