FSU Wide Receiver Offers Promising Update On Status After Leaving Game Due To Injury

Arguably the biggest storyline coming out of the game is the health of star wide receiver Johnny Wilson. On Florida State's first offensive play of the second half, Wilson caught a pass over the middle and was drilled by multiple defenders. He stayed down on the field following the play and eventually was escorted to the sideline while appearing to be limping or struggling to keep his balance.
After a short stint in the injury tent, Wilson went back to the locker room under his own power alongside the training staff. He didn't end up returning to the field during the remainder of the contest.
Head coach Mike Norvell didn't provide a ton of clarification on his status following the game.
"We'll see. Obviously wasn't able to come back," Norvell said. "We'll see what that looks like as we move forward to this week."
A few hours after the game ended, Wilson took to social media to provide a much-needed update for Florida State fans. It seems that he might have dodged a potentially more serious injury after departing from the game.
"I'm straight! Love these boys man!"
Wilson finished as Florida State's leading receiver with four catches for 54 yards and two scores despite missing the majority of the second half. He was a big part of the Seminoles' fast score, hauling in two touchdown passes as the team built a 22-0 lead in the first quarter.
On the season, Wilson leads Florida State in receiving with 20 catches for 357 yards and two touchdowns. NoleGameday will continue to monitor his status and provide updates if necessary.
