Garnet & Gold Spring Showcase: Pre-Game Injury Updates
Fans will finally get their first look at the Seminoles in 2023 during Saturday's Garnet & Gold Spring Showcase. FSU's roster is loaded ahead of the fall and that's led to intense competition throughout the spring as players look to hold onto their spots or move up the depth chart. Football is a physical sport and as things progress, players are going to be nicked or banged up. That's simply the nature of the game and why it's important for the Seminoles to establish depth across the roster.
At the beginning of the spring, head coach Mike Norvell announced that wide receiver Mycah Pittman, offensive tackle Robert Scott, cornerback Kevin Knowles, defensive end Aaron Hester, and defensive tackle Malcolm Ray would miss the period due to injury. Norvell also stated that defensive lineman Braden Fiske and defensive end Jaden Jones would be limited.
There are also other names to monitor though. Wide receiver Winston Wright Jr, offensive lineman Thomas Shrader, and tight end Jackson West did not dress out for a game last season while dealing with injuries. Running back/wide receiver Joshua Burrell had surgery following the regular season while star defensive tackle Fabien Lovett didn't suit up for the Cheez-It Bowl victory against Oklahoma. Also, offensive lineman Bless Harris and Stephen Dix Jr. missed 2022 after being hurt early in the year.
