LSU Quarterback Jayden Daniels Has 'Extra Edge' For Season Opener Against FSU
The Southeastern Conference Media Days took place last week and the Seminoles were on plenty of minds. That includes the LSU Tigers, the team Florida State will open up its season against in Orlando as the two teams prepare for the second of a two-game series.
One of the players that spoke for the Tigers is quarterback Jayden Daniels. Since the Seminoles and Tigers square off in week one, Daniels had to answer a question about the big game when talking to On3's J.D. Pickell.
"We have [the matchup] circled because it's week one," Daniels said. "But there's a little extra edge to it knowing how that game ended, and we had that bad taste in our mouth from that game."
Daniels had a big impact in that game. He threw for 209 yards and two touchdowns while completing 25 of his 39 passing attempts and no interceptions. Daniels was also deadly on the ground, picking up 114 rushing yards on 16 attempts.

"It's two historic programs with what Florida State has done and LSU has done," Daniels continued. "... I'm excited to go out there and play such a great team in Florida State."
The two programs are respectively on their way back up in the college football scene after both had taken a recent dip. As Daniels said, each of the programs has a rich history and this will be a marquee matchup that could push one of them towards the playoffs.
The primetime game is featuring two really good teams, and both sides understand that. LSU coach Brian Kelly made similar comments during media day.
"Going into this season, it certainly is going to be a great challenge for us as we open up against an outstanding Florida State team, which will challenge our football team," Kelly said. "But it also motivates us on a day-to-day basis when we're out working in the cool breezes of Louisiana."
The matchup is set for Sunday, September 3 at 7:30 p.m. in Orlando, FL at Camping World Stadium.
