Mike Norvell Provides The Latest On Florida State's Beat-Up Wide Receiver Corps
Florida State's offense lived up to the challenge in Pittsburgh after fighting and scrapping for a tough road victory despite being shorthanded. Without Johnny Wilson and Keon Coleman, the Seminoles were still able to put up 501 yards as quarterback Jordan Travis compiled a season-high 360 passing yards and two total touchdowns.

It was an encouraging performance against an overmatched Panthers team to secure a berth in the ACC Championship game. With that being said, FSU is hoping to get a couple of wide receivers back in the lineup when the team returns to Doak Campbell Stadium for a battle with Miami.
On Monday, head coach Mike Norvell expressed confidence that the room is trending in the right direction health-wise. Outside of Wilson and Coleman, the Seminoles were also without Deuce Spann and Hykeem Williams while Kentron Poitier and Destyn Hill were not at full strength last week.
"I do, and what that means, we'll see. As we go through the week, we'll get a great perspective of where guys are but it was [beat up]," Norvell said when asked if he expects to get some of the missing Seminoles back soon. "Kentron [Poitier], he battled last week. Deuce [Spann], obviously didn't play, so Rodney took over some of the things in the kickoff return game. It was a real challenge last week."
"But yes, I do see us being in a much better spot," Norvell continued. "Coming out of last night's practice, we had a lot more participation in it, guys being able to get out there and work so we'll see where the week goes."
With the absence of multiple members of the two-deep, Florida State called on veterans and true freshmen alike to step up. They responded as redshirt junior Ja'Khi Douglas caught six passes for a career-high 115 yards and newcomer Vandrevius Jacobs provided a spark in the second half with a 19-yard grab on a drive that led to a touchdown.
"Another guy I want to mention is Vandrevius Jacobs, to be able to come in, hadn't played a whole lot this season, but his number got called and he was ready," Norvell said. "Just continued growth from another true freshman that's able to make an impact for us."
In the fourth quarter, Jordan Travis appeared to be limping on the sideline. Following a conversation with Norvell, he was replaced by backup quarterback Tate Rodemaker on the ensuing possession. However, it doesn't sound like Seminole fans should be worried moving forward.
"I think he was showing me a grass stain that he had," Norvell joked."He's fine, he'll be good."
Florida State returns to action on Saturday in a rivalry matchup against Miami at 3:30 p.m. on ABC.
