NFL Legend Terrell Owens Trashes FSU Football After Blowout Loss in Orange Bowl
On Saturday, the Seminoles took a steep loss to the Georgia Bulldogs in the Orange Bowl. With the NFL opt-outs, injuries, and transfers, Florida State was severely shorthanded heading into the game. Taking a big loss was expected, as the Seminoles were the largest underdogs of the bowl season. By kickoff, they were 21-point underdogs.
The Seminoles ended up losing 63-3, giving football fans no real product to watch in what was a No. 5 ranked team taking on a No. 6 ranked team, which would typically be a close, fun game.
Instead, the current state of college football created this game, among others, that has essentially changed the way bowl season is looked at by fans and players alike.

What happened on Saturday was partly a result of the Seminoles being snubbed from the College Football Playoff. The NFL-ready guys, along with transfers, would have stayed with the team and battled in a playoff scene, whereas there was no incentive for them to play in the Orange Bowl. It simply doesn't mean as much, and in a sport that is voluntary, the players have a right to opt-out.
Of course, there will be plenty of observers baselessly using the blowout loss as ammo, claiming that the Seminoles proved why they shouldn't have been a playoff team. One of those who has claimed such was former NFL wide receiver Terrell Owens.
"For EVERYONE that wasn’t mad but “FURIOUS” because [Florida State] wasn’t chosen for the CFP, this is WHY!!! Seems like the committee was right on this one! IJS The SEC is just a different brand of football," Owens wrote on social media.
This take and behavior could have been predicted weeks ago, but watching it come from former players makes no sense. Owens was First Team All-Pro on five different occasions and was selected for the Pro Bowl on six occasions. He was an incredible NFL wide receiver, so it's hard to imagine he can't look at the big picture as to why the game went the way that it did.
