Report: Former FSU Football Quarterback Expected To Visit SEC School

The former Seminole is already fielding interest from at least one program since entering the portal.

Florida State entered the 2023 season with four quarterbacks on scholarship. Less than a couple of months later, only redshirt freshman Brock Glenn remains after redshirt senior Jordan Travis (graduation), redshirt junior Tate Rodemaker (transfer), and redshirt freshman AJ Duffy (transfer) all moved on for various reasons.

Rodemaker is the most recent departure from the room after choosing to enter the NCAA Transfer Portal shortly before FSU's Orange Bowl matchup against Georgia. Rodemaker chose not to play in the contest while evaluating his future, forcing Glenn to make his second consecutive start to conclude the year.

It appears that the graduate transfer is already receiving interest from schools and could be taking at least one visit in the next couple of days. South Carolina is a program that is vetting Rodemaker and he may schedule a trip to Columbia as soon as this weekend, According to GamecockCentral.

The Gamecocks are in the process of replacing veteran quarterback Spencer Rattler, who declared for the 2024 NFL Draft. Plus, redshirt sophomore Colten Gauthier entered the portal, leaving just redshirt senior Luke Doty, redshirt sophomore Tanner Bailey, and redshirt freshman LaNorris Sellers on the roster.

Rodemaker spent four years in Tallahassee backing up Travis. He entered the lineup at various points of his career in relief of the star quarterback, guiding the Seminoles to wins over Louisville and Florida on the road. During his career at Florida State, Rodemaker completed 68/118 passes for 901 yards with seven touchdowns to five interceptions in 22 appearances, with three starts.

Since his decision to move on from FSU, the program has landed former Oregon State and Clemson quarterback DJ Uiagalelei out of the portal to add to the roster alongside Glenn and true freshman signee Luke Kromenhoek.

Outside of Rodemaker, the Seminoles have seen quarterback Tate Rodemaker, quarterback AJ Duffy (San Diego State), Rodney Hill, running back CJ Campbell (FAU), tight end Markeston Douglas (Arizona State), tight end Preston Daniel, offensive lineman Bless Harris (TCU), offensive lineman Thomas Schrader, offensive lineman Daughtry Richardson (FAU), offensive lineman Qae'shon Sapp, defensive end Gilber Edmond, defensive tackle Malcolm Ray, defensive tackle Ayobami Tifase (Georgia Tech), linebacker DJ Lundy (Colorado), linebacker Dylan Brown-Turner, and kicker Tyler Keltner enter the portal since the window opened in December.
