Report: Texas A&M Likely to Part Ways With Former Florida State Head Coach

There is more turmoil in Texas for the former FSU head coach.

The Texas A&M Board of Regents met Thursday to discuss former Florida State head coach Jimbo Fisher's future down in Aggie land and according to multiple reports, Fisher's TAMU timeline could end as early as today.

Fisher has eight years remaining on his contract and more than $75 million fully guaranteed. There has been turmoil in Texas as Fisher has gone 45-25 in his six seasons as the head coach but has been below .500 since 2020. The Aggies are coming off a 51-10 victory over Mississippi State but the university appears to be ready to move on. According to the report, Fisher's termination will be immediate and an interim head coach will be appointed to coach the remainder of the season.

Texas A&M recently resigned Fisher to an unprecedented 10-year, $90 million dollar contract in 2021 due in part to his potential to leave for the open job at LSU. Those type of contract-boosting games while flirting with other schools is something Florida State fans know all too well as it was constantly rumored he was pursuing other schools during his tenure in Tallahassee.

Fisher had an 83-23 record at Florida State, winning the 2013 BCS National Championship, four ACC Titles, and an appearance in the first College Football Playoff.
