Rising star wide receiver to return to Florida State in 2023
The Seminoles' wide receivers took a massive leap last season after acquiring talent out of the NCAA Transfer Portal such as Johnny Wilson, Mycah Pittman, Deuce Spann, and Winston Wright. Coupled with veterans like Ontaria Wilson and a crop of rising youngsters, the unit was as productive as its been since position coach Ron Dugans arrived at Florida State in 2019.

On Friday afternoon, it was announced that rising star wide receiver Johnny Wilson would return to Tallahassee for another season, per a deal with The Battle's End Collective.
There was optimism that Wilson would suit up for the Seminoles for at least another year following his comments after the Cheez-It Bowl victory against Oklahoma in December
"We just getting started. That's it," Wilson said after the game.
The 6-foot-7, 235-pound wide receiver put on a career performance that ended up setting the new program record for receiving yards in a postseason appearance. He broke the legendary Fred Biletnikoff's (yes, that one) previous record (13 catches, 192 yards four touchdowns in FSU's only other win against Oklahoma) by hauling in eight passes for 202 yards.
This is where it's important to bring up that he only totaled 18 catches for 243 yards and one touchdown during his two years at Arizona State prior to transferring to FSU.
Wilson concluded the season with three 100+ yard receiving games. In total, he finished with 43 catches for 897 yards and five touchdowns. It was the most productive season by a Florida State wide receiver since Tamorrion Terry in 2019 (60 catches, 1,188 yards, nine touchdowns).
Outside of Wilson, the Seminoles are expected to bring back Pittman, Wright, Spann, Ja'Khi Douglas, Kentron Poitier, Darion Williamson, Malik McClain, and Joshua Burrell. The team signed Hykeem Williams, Vandrevius Jacobs, and Darren 'Goldie' Lawrence from the high school ranks.
Despite his stat line, there are still some aspects that Wilson can improve on such as limiting his drop. He's an NFL Draft prospect right now but if Wilson hones in on his fundamentals, the sky is truly the limit for him moving forward.
The same limitless potential expands to the entirety of Florida State's offense next year with Wilson back in the fold alongside quarterback Jordan Travis, running back Trey Benson, and a host of other key names.
