December marks the conclusion of the year and also one of the busiest stretches in college football. With bowl games, NFL Draft declarations, transfers, and the Early Signing Period all pushed into a short span, you've always got to keep your head on a swivel for the latest news.
On Thursday morning, Florida State NIL Collective, The Battle's End, announced that the program was retaining one of its top running backs for another season. Redshirt junior Lawrance Toafili will be back in Tallahassee in 2024 for his fifth year in garnet and gold.

This is much-needed news with star Trey Benson making the leap to the NFL along with Rodney Hill and CJ Campbell entering the transfer portal. Toafili will be the unquestioned leader in the backfield with his experience over the years and will be a crucial part of Florida State's offense.
The Florida native is coming off a career year where he accumulated 463 yards and four touchdowns on just 69 carries - an average of 6.7 yards per rush. He also caught 21 passes for 186 yards and another score. Toafili was named the MVP of the ACC Championship after rushing 10 ten times for a career-high 118 yards and the lone touchdown of the game.
Toafili has been a member of Florida State's running back rotation throughout his career in garnet and gold. He's appeared in 43 games, with 15 starts, while totaling 231 rushes for 1,439 yards with 12 touchdowns on the ground while catching 67 passes for 690 yards and four more scores. Toafili is the fifth player in program history with a 70+ yard rushing and receiving touchdown.
The former four-star prospect signed with the Seminoles as a member of the 2020 class despite committing to former head coach Willie Taggart. He was named FSU's Co-Freshman of the Year in 2020 and Most Improved Offensive Player in 2022.
Outside of Toafili, Florida State is projected to return redshirt junior Caziah Holmes and true freshman Samuel Singleton next season. The program also signed four-star Kam Davis and four-star Micahi Danzy during the Early Signing Period.
Florida State will take on Georgia in the Orange Bowl to conclude its 2023 campaign. The game is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 30, and will be televised on ESPN.
