Two Florida State Wide Receivers Named To Biletnikoff Award Watch List
Florida State wide receivers Keon Coleman and Johnny Wilson have been included on the Biletnikoff Award Watch List, it was announced Monday.
Coleman was rated as the No. 4 wide receiver in the transfer portal by 247Sports after he appeared in 22 games with 12 starts at Michigan State and made 65 receptions for 848 yards and eight touchdowns. He caught 58 passes for 798 yards and seven touchdowns and was named third-team All-Big Ten in 2022. The Opelousas, Louisiana, native ranked in the top-eight in the conference in receiving yards, receiving touchdowns and total receptions. His 15 catches of at least 20 yards was the fourth-highest total in the Big Ten.
Coleman recorded a career-high 155 yards on five catches at No. 4 Michigan, the third-highest by a Spartan against the Wolverines in series history. He made a career-best nine receptions for 116 yards and two touchdowns at Washington and also caught two two-point conversions against the Huskies. Coleman registered his third career 100-yard receiving game with 107 yards on eight catches against Indiana.
Wilson was a second-team All-ACC performer last season after making 43 receptions for 897 yards and five touchdowns. The leading vote-getter among wide receivers on this year’s Preseason All-ACC Team ranked second in the conference and fifth nationally with an average of 20.86 yards per catch, and his 22 receptions of at least 20 yards led the ACC and was third in the country. The Pacoima, California, native also led the conference in 60-yard receptions, ranked second in the ACC in 50-yard receptions, was third in 40-yard receptions and fourth in 30-yard catches. His receiving yards total was seventh in the ACC.
Wilson was dominant in FSU’s Cheez-It Bowl victory over Oklahoma, hauling in a career-high eight receptions for a career-best 202 yards. His yardage total broke both the Cheez-It Bowl record and FSU’s record for receiving yards in a bowl game and was the only 200-yard receiving game during the 2022 bowl season. In Florida State’s 35-31 win at Louisville, Wilson made seven catches for 149 yards and a career-high two touchdowns, totaling all 79 yards on the Seminoles’ game-tying drive in the fourth quarter before catching the game-winning score on third down with 7:54 remaining in the game.
Coleman and Wilson are the ninth and 10th different Florida State players on a preseason watch list, accounting for 12 total watch list spots. Quarterback Jordan Travis is on the Maxwell Award Watch List, while running back Trey Benson is on watch lists for the Maxwell and Paul Hornung awards. Defensive lineman Jared Verse is on the Bronko Nagurski Watch List, along with defensive back Fentrell Cypress II, and also on the Wuerffel Trophy Watch List. Offensive lineman Jeremiah Byers is on the Outland Trophy Watch List and punter Alex Mastromanno was named to the Ray Guy Award Watch List.
Semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award will be announced Nov. 20 before three finalists are announced Nov. 28. This year’s winner will be revealed as part of the ESPN Home Depot College Football Awards Show on December 7.
The Seminoles open their 2023 season in primetime on Sunday, Sept. 3, vs. LSU. Their season opener kicks off inside Camping World Stadium in Orlando at 7:30 p.m. and will be broadcast nationally on ABC.
