Wake Forest Head Coach Dave Clawson Discusses Matchup Against Florida State
Florida State is preparing to hit the road to face a Wake Forest team the Seminoles have struggled against in recent years. The Demon Deacons are preparing to face what will most likely be their toughest opponent in the 2023 season.

In his weekly press conference, Wake Forest head Coach Dave Clawson talked to the media about the team's highly anticipated game against the number one team in the ACC.
"This is an outstanding football team we're playing this week. Florida State, they're undefeated, they look like the Florida State of old when we first got here, they really do," Clawson said.
With the Seminoles now the lone undefeated team in the ACC, the pressure on the team continues to build. However, Clawson believes that Mike Norvell has turned FSU into what could be the best program in the ACC.
"I don't know if anybody in the ACC has done a better job of embracing and maximizing what college football looks like in 2023," Clawson said.
While coach Norvell deserves a lot of the credit for the turnaround of the program, it is the faith he puts in his players that has allowed the team to succeed. Clawson noted that FSU quarterback Jordan Travis has been a major playmaker for the Seminoles and will be a threat to his defense on Saturday.
"It starts with their quarterback Jordan Travis, I'm not quite sure why he's not involved in the Heisman discussion," Clawson said. "He is a major reason why they are undefeated. He's an accurate thrower, he's a great runner, his ability to extend plays and keep his eyes down the field, they make so many big plays off of scrambles because his field vision is so good."
Despite Wake Forest coming out on top in recent years, this FSU team has more depth across the roster and anything less than a win is unacceptable in the eyes of the Seminoles. Clawson made sure his team is aware of the challenge FSU presents on Saturday and understands this is a different team than what the Demon Deacons saw last year in Tallahassee.
"They are what we thought they'd be. They're good, they're really well coached, they're physical, they don't beat themselves, they're an excellent football team. Every time this Saturday we get a stop, a third down stop, a red zone stop, a fourth down stop that'll be a good moment for Wake Forest football," Clawson said.
The Seminoles travel to Winston-Salem on Saturday as they hope to extend their 13-game winning streak with a win over the Demon Deacons. Kickoff is set for noon and the contest will be aired on ABC.
