WATCH: FSU RB Trey Benson Breaks The Rock After Second Straight Hat Trick Against The Gators

This is the fourth time that Benson has been honored with the opportunity to break the rock this season.

The 2023 regular season is complete and Florida State is 12-0 for the fourth time in program history. The perfect campaign didn't come without its fair share of trials and tribulations as the Seminoles once again overcame a double-digit deficit with a strong second half to knock off the Florida Gators on the road.

Recruits React To Florida State's Comeback Victory Against The Florida Gators

It was a gritty effort from the 'Noles, who remain a College Football Playoff contender despite the loss of starting quarterback Jordan Travis to a season-ending injury. Florida State needed its playmakers to step on offense without its star and the team got just that from running back Trey Benson.

While things didn't start off great with an 11-yard scamper in the wrong direction, Benson ended up shining for the second straight year against the Gators. He finished with 19 rushes for 95 yards and all three of Florida State's touchdowns in the game.

Benson's powerful 26-yard scoring run with 2:48 remaining in the game ended Florida's chances of a rally. Assuming he declares for the NFL following the year, he'll conclude his time with the Seminoles against the Gators with a total of 39 rushes for 206 yards and six rushing touchdowns.

Keon Coleman earned the sledgehammer after scoring three touchdowns in his debut with the program against LSU. Trey Benson joined him the following week after recording a hat trick of his own against Southern Miss. DJ Lundy had the honor against Boston College following a performance that included an interception and a rushing touchdown. Linebacker Kalen DeLoach broke the rock after a game-changing forced fumble that he returned for a touchdown against Clemson.

Benson got another chance to swing the hammer with a 200+ yard performance in the win over Virginia Tech. Coleman joined him for another honor alongside Shyheim Brown and Adam Fuller after a total team performance in a blowout against Syracuse. Deuce Spann broke the rock after sparking FSU to a comeback win over Duke with a 99-yard kickoff return touchdown. Benson smashed his third rock of the season after recording an 80-yard receiving touchdown and going over 100 yards through the air in the win against Wake Forest.

Ja'Khi Douglas got the opportunity to swing the hammer after catching a career-high six passes for 115 yards against Pittsburgh. Three Seminoles - Kalen DeLoach, Jarrian Jones, and Alex Mastromanno - shared the sledgehammer after the team defeated rival Miami. Jarrian Jones broke the rock for the second straight week after recording three tackles for loss, one sack, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, and one interception in FSU's home finale against North Alabama.
