Florida State honors Jermaine Johnson with unveiling of All-American Brick
Florida State University hosted a ceremony on Saturday morning outside of the Moore Athletic facility in which they honored former star defensive end Jermaine Johnson II with an All-America brick.
Johnson was able to "cut the turf" to reveal his brick, similar to the way the Seminoles bring back turf from away games for the Sod Cemetary.
"Today's dedication means a great deal to all of us; the athletic department." Athletic director Michael Alford said during his speech. "He came in and set the standard on what being a Seminole and what being a part of this football program is about."
Johnson started a trend with transfers coming in, making the FSU defensive end position a revolving door of talent when he transferred from the University of Georgia for the 2021 season. Finishing his year with 11.5 sacks and 17.5 tackles for loss, Johnson was a monster to opposing offensive lines.

"To be able to be together today and celebrate the accomplishment of a wonderful man," Norvell said. "We're talking about an opportunity. An opportunity to grow and be a part of a program. Not just as a player, not just a jersey number. Not just about being able to come in and fill a role that might've been needed and come do it all."
At FSU, Johnson earned ACC Player of the Year, first-team All-American, Walter Award winner and FSU Defensive MVP, recording 70 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, 11.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles,
Former teammates such as defensive end Keir Thomas (Rams) and running back Jashaun Corbin (NY Giants) were in attendance for the ceremony. Former FSU quarterback Jameis Winston (Saints) was one of the speakers at the ceremony.
"I can't really put it all into words. Anytime coach congratulates me on anything I've done or accomplished; I always say thank you for the opportunity. Because that's all you got." Johnson said." "God will give you the opportunity, but you still gotta lift the other end of the couch. I just thank you for the opportunity."
