Over the last two years, former Florida State star and Orlando Magic forward Jonathan Isaac has had to battle back from a variety of ailments. Originally, Isaac tore his ACL in 2020 during the NBA's continued season in the bubble.

Since then, the Florida native hasn't been able to get back into form without suffering a setback. Isaac was ruled out for the entire 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons while rehabbing from his ACL injury. He suffered a hamstring injury during his rehab that required surgery in March 2022.

After returning to action in January for the first time in 904 days, it didn't take long for Isaac to suffer another injury. According to the Orlando Magic, Isaac will miss the remainder of the season after suffering a torn left abductor muscle. The injury was discovered earlier this week following practice and he underwent surgery on Friday.

“Our thoughts are with Jonathan, whose fortitude in dealing with adversity is unique,” said Orlando Magic President of Basketball Operations Jeff Weltman. “Jonathan has worked extremely hard to return to the court this season and has demonstrated his impact on our team. We will be by his side as he focuses on the work ahead.”

Disappointing and heartbreaking news for Isaac, who ends his season after averaging 5 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.3 steals in 11.3 minutes per game in 11 performances off the bench. Isaac returned to the court on January 23 and recorded 10 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 steals in just nine minutes in a win against the Boston Celtics. Isaac also scored 10 points in a victory against Detroit on February 23, his most recent appearance.

Isaac is in the second season of a four-year/$69.6 million contract. His salary next season is only partially guaranteed.

Previously, Isaac spent one season at Florida State after developing into a five-star high school recruit. He was named to the All-ACC Freshman Team and earned ACC honorable mention honors after averaging 12 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.5 blocks, 1.2 assists, and 1.2 steals per game with the Seminoles.
