The 2023 NFL Preseason is underway as teams compete in exhibition matchups ahead of what should be another exciting year around the league.

The Kansas City Chiefs, who won it all a season ago, faced off against the New Orleans Saints on August 13. The bout ended with a walk-off field goal by Blake Grupe after defensive end Kyle Phillips got the ball back for the Saints. His interceptions in the final seconds allowed the team to put an end to Kansas City's comeback effort.

A piece of that 26-24 victory came from former Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston, who saw action on Sunday and showed what the now healthy and motivated signal-caller could do.

Winston finished the night completing 11 of 13 passes for 92 yards and a score, with the touchdown strike coming off a 29-yard pass to wide receiver A.T. Perry. The rookie out of Wake Forest has reportedly been making strides late in training camp, and a hot connection between the two could be brewing.

"I just saw one on one," Winston said during his post-game interview about the touchdown. "I tried to put it in a good spot, and he went up there and made a heck of a grab."

The Heisman Trophy winner and National Champion has had a rollercoaster of a career battling injuries and performance woes after he was selected No. 1 overall by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2015 NFL Draft. The 2023 season will give Winston a chance to showcase his talents in a backup role behind Derek Carr. He'll continue to stay ready in the event of some sort of change.
