2025 QB KJ Lacey checks out FSU for Junior Day after recently picking up an offer from the Seminoles
The Seminoles brought in a plethora of prospects from future classes on Saturday for the final Junior Day of January. The crop of talent included 2025 quarterback KJ Lacey, who the Seminoles recently offered in December.

The offer came during what was a pretty busy day for Lacey at the time.
"Well that night, I think it was probably like 9 p.m. or 10 p.m. at night," Lacey said to NoleGameday's Dustin Lewis. "I had just got offered by Auburn and Ole Miss earlier that day at school. I got home, about to go to sleep, and then my coach called [and FSU offered]."
Offers have been flying in for Lacey since the new year. Alabama, Texas A&M, Tennessee, and Georgia Tech are just a couple of the teams to join his recruitment in January. The Crimson Tide actually offered while he was on campus at Florida State but he waited to post until the visit concluded.
"You know, I was waiting for a little bit but now I'm just rolling with it," Lacey said. "Not letting it get to my head, enjoying it at the same time but staying level-headed with what I want to do."
The visit to FSU gave Lacey an opportunity to sit down with quarterbacks coach Tony Tokarz to go over plays on the whiteboard. Lacey showed him a play from his high school that he learned is actually similar to a concept the Seminoles run.
"I sat down, talked to coach Tokarz and coach Norvell," Lacey said. "We really just talked about being at Florida State and what I'll be held to as a quarterback if I want to come here. I went in there, drew on the board a little bit, a couple plays, then we went and did the photoshoot."
"It was cool," Lacey continued. "I went over one of our post-plays but he showed me their four verticals plays which is kind of just like it."
Prior to the end of the trip, Lacey met with head coach Mike Norvell in his office where he learned about the standard he'll be held to at Florida State. Norvell stressed for him to keep the same mentality no matter how large his recruitment grows.
"Just making sure I stay who I am, keep my work ethic no matter how big the recruitment gets," Lacey said. "Just keep my head down and work."
The Alabama native is coming off a breakout sophomore campaign where he completed 200/314 passes (63.7%) for 3,177 yards with 40 touchdowns to five interceptions. He added four more scores on the ground. The Seminoles like aspects of his game that go beyond his physical talent.
"Extending plays was one of the biggest parts," Lacey said. "But then my poise and my leadership and how everyone rolls with my energy when I'm playing."
Moving forward, Lacey is focused on continuing to build up his relationship with Florida State's coaching staff. He wants to return in the spring and for a game in the fall.
"Everything looks nice. I really just like the relationships with the coaches. Just trying to build that up. Everybody's really cool up here."
Lacey also plans to check out Alabama, Ole Miss, Auburn, and a few other schools this offseason.
The 6-foot-1, 180-pound quarterback has not yet been ranked in the 2025 class according to 247Sports.
