On Saturday evening, the Seminoles landed another blue-chip wide receiver as four-star athlete BJ Gibson announced his commitment to Florida State. Gibson pledged to FSU over programs such as Auburn, Florida, Georgia Tech, and Tennessee.
The Georgia native has been a familiar presence on Florida State's campus over the past year. His trip for the Spring Showcase was his third time in Tallahassee since the calendar flipped to 2023.
In his words, Florida State has always felt like home. Gibson likes how the Seminoles have kept a consistent message throughout his recruitment.
"It feels like they're family. It feels like home," Gibson said previously. "They always treat me the same. Since the first visit they've always treated me the same."
Gibson has built a strong relationship with head coach Mike Norvell and wide receivers coach Ron Dugans. Both coaches have always kept it real with him.
"Their personality really stands out. They both treat me like family," Gibson said previously. "They always tell me what they expect out of me and that's what I want to happen. I want to be real, I don't want no sugarcoating, I want you get down to business and tell me how it's going to be and what it's going to be. I don't want there to be no fake stuff around."
With his addition, Florida State is up to ten verbal commitments in the 2024 recruiting cycle. Tribe24 sits at No. 6 in the country with plenty of time remaining until prospects put pen to paper.
Gibson is the fourth blue-chip wide receiver to commit to the Seminoles thus far. He joins a crop of talent that includes four-star Camdon Frier, four-star TJ Abrams, and four-star Lawayne McCoy.
It's expected that Gibson will be a two-sport star at the next level as he also plays baseball. Gibson was previously committed to Tennessee for both sports until the end of January.
The 6-foot, 170-pound athlete is regarded as the No. 375 overall prospect, the No. 34 ATH, and the No. 44 recruit in the state of Georgia in the 2024 class according to 247Sports.
