Five-Star Cornerback Charles Lester III Officially Signs With Florida State

Lester is expected officially to join his dream school in the near future.

Dreams are being realized across the country on Wednesday as thousands of prospects sign their letters of intent to play college football. Some of those recruits will even be joining the program that they've aspired to suit up for throughout their lives.

On Wednesday morning, five-star defensive back Charles Lester III officially signed with Florida State. Lester is one of the highest-ranked recruits that head coach Mike Norvell has reeled in during his tenure in Tallahassee.

This is a moment that he's always dreamed about as Lester grew up a fan of Florida State. After pledging to the Seminoles in July, his decision was all but set.

"Just the tradition and the culture of the Florida State Seminoles. I mean it's just heartfelt, I can't even explain the feeling, it's a different type of feeling," Lester said. "Every time I get here I feel like I'm a kid at heart. Everything's exciting. I'm just so blessed to be here and be around this wonderful university that I always dreamed to come true."

Throughout his recruitment, Lester has built a strong relationship with coach Norvell. That's another big part of why he ended up with the Seminoles.

“Coach Norvell, I have the best relationship with Coach Norvell of anyone else here so that explains it all - to have that type of relationship with the head man," Lester said to NoleGameday previously. "His character and the way he loves, not only shows, but he makes me feel like I’m a high priority, makes me feel like he’s going to give me his all and do whatever it takes to get me to the next level I want to go to. Out of all the head coaches I’ve been to, that guy makes me feel like the highest priority in the world.”

The Florida native played on both sides of the ball during his senior season. He caught 12 passes for 250 yards and three touchdowns on offense while totaling 50 tackles, seven pass deflections, three interceptions, and a blocked field goal on defense.

The 6-foot-1, 171-pound cornerback is regarded as the No. 39 overall prospect, the No. 3 CB, and the No. 7 recruit in the state of Florida in the 2024 class according to 247Sports. Lester is expected to join the Seminoles for bowl practices later this month.

As of now, Florida State holds 23 commitments in its 2024 class, which ranks No. 4 overall in the country according to 247Sports.
