Georgia's 2025 SEC Schedule's Impact on the Future of Bulldog Football
Now that the official SEC schedule is out for the Georgia Bulldogs, what could that mean for their future?
Kirby Smart knows who to start game planning for when the 2025 season rolls around. Their SEC schedule was released a few days ago, giving an early look at the future of Georgia football in 2025 and Georgia's future schedules.
As you may have realized by now, the Dawgs have the same opponents in 2025 as in the 2024 season, but the stadium where the game will be held has changed. Texas, Alabama, Ole Miss, and Kentucky each have a trip Between the Hedges, but Georgia goes to each in 2024. The teams who will play in Athens this year are Auburn, Mississippi State, and Tennessee, meaning the Dawgs will go to each in 2025.
In late October of 2023, Dawgs Daily reported that the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party would likely stay in Jacksonville, FL - and this schedule release confirms those reports. One thing is uncertain regarding the outlook of Georgia football in 2026 and beyond regarding who their conference opponents would be.
Georgia will go two straight years without playing five SEC teams: Oklahoma, LSU, South Carolina, Missouri, and Vanderbilt. Those teams will likely be added to their schedules for 2026 and 2027. With the way the SEC currently stands, the Bulldogs would need three more conference games to fulfill their eight-game quota. Those teams would likely be Auburn, Florida, and possibly Alabama.
Another uncertainty is whether or not the annual Georgia-Florida rivalry will remain in Jacksonville for 2026, and maybe even 2025, as the Jacksonville Jaguars are set to undergo stadium renovations. There is also still the possibility that the SeC will change its eight-game conference game format to a nine-game format.
Either way, Georgia must focus on the current moment - spring practice. The ultimate goal of this spring for the Dawgs is to figure out your depth at the necessary positions and get through the spring healthy.
