UGA was able to respond in kind with a 10-2 run that started with 8:12 left and ended with 5:18 and brought the score to 22-19 HPU. From there the rest of the first period was marked by brief scoring drives from each team and ended with the Panthers up on the Dawgs 33 to 30.

From here, the game was back and forth until UGA went on a 9-3 run starting with 8:18 left, ending with 3:15 left, and bringing the score to 59-50 UGA. Despite an eight-point surge in the last three minutes, HPU fell short against the Dawgs with the game ending in a 66-58 win for the Dawgs.
High Point took significantly more shots than UGA throughout the entire game, with 73 field goal attempts to UGA’s 52 and 36 3-point attempts to UGA’s 12. Despite HPU taking more shots, UGA was far more accurate (UGA went 44.2% on field goals while HPU went 23.3%) and was able to hold High Point to a season-low of 58 points (HPU’s previous season low was 72 points against Queens).
With the win tonight, the Dawgs get over the hill of their home-game hosting stretch and maintain their overall home-game win streak. Even though they suffered a loss, the Panthers were able to keep within 9 points of the Dawgs at all teams and were even able to lead by 10 in the first period. With UGA being their only Power 5 opponent, this should provide good fuel for High Point and the Rest of their season.
The Dawgs' next game is at home against Mount St. Mary’s on Wednesday, December 20th at 7 PM EST.
