Carson Beck has a Chance to Break Multiple Georgia Records in 2024
Georgia brought in the nation's No. 1 recruiting class this past December, but it was getting Carson Beck to return for his final season that was Kirby Smart's best recruiting job this offseason.
Beck threw for 3,941 yards in 14 games and was as efficient doing it as any quarterback in Georgia history. With trips to Texas, Alabama, and Ole Miss, Georgia's schedule is as tough as any team's in the country, and having a veteran signal-caller was key.
Now, with at least 12 more games under center for Georgia - and potentially as many as 17, Beck could put himself near the top of Georgia's record books. Here are some of those marks that are within reach.
Top 5 in Career Passing Yards
No one is touching Aaron Murray's 13,166 career passing yards which still stands as the SEC record, but Beck could certainly find his way into the top 5. Beck averaged 303 yards per game in 2023. If he can match that mark over 12 regular season games and one bowl game in 2024, he'd pass Jake Fromm (8,224) for fifth. Stetson Bennett's fourth-place mark of 8,429 isn't too far past that.
Career Passer Rating (Min 100+ attempts)
Beck was incredibly efficient this past season. His 9.6 yards per attempt was good for sixth in the nation. For his career, Beck has a passer rating of 166.9. That trails only JT Daniels (168.1) for the Georgia record among quarterbacks. If Beck can find the endzone more, he can win the top spot.
Career Completion Percentage
Speaking of Daniels, he is currently second only to Carson Beck in career completion percentage. Beck sits at an astounding 71.2 for his career, while Daniels finished his time in Athens at 69.5. With a deep receiving core returning, Beck has a great chance of holding on to the top spot.
Single Season Passing Yards
Stetson Bennett's record-breaking 2022 season is in reach. Bennett threw for 4,127 during Georgia's 15-0 run to the national title. With the expanded 12-team playoff, Beck can certainly reach that. Beck's 2023 season is currently second all-time with 3,941 yards and he only played in 13 games. The protege could certainly take over the top spot here.
