As Georgia continues with spring practice, Earnest Greene III is in an interesting spot. After starting all 14 games for at left tackle in 2023, he's expected to be a leader this year.

A pretty simple equation is starting to form in Athens, Georgia. Starting at left tackle for the Georgia Bulldogs equals getting picked in the first round. Broderick Jones was selected in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Andrew Thomas in the first round of 2020. Isaiah Wynn in the first round of 2018.

Now, after starting 14 games as a sophomore for a 13-1 Georgia team, Earnest Greene III is in position to do the same. If he can put together another year like 2023, the Los Angeles native could hear his name called in the first round as well. But before then, he has at least another year in Athens, and that means he's putting the work in this spring.

"I'll just say one of the things that I look back on is trying, I actually talked to Coach {Stacey] Searels about it recently, actually, it was being good in the first four seconds, but being like elite in the last five to six to seven seconds and finishing reps," said Greene in his press availability on Tuesday. "So that's one of the bigger things I'm looking forward to going into next year, just being able to have the ability to finish like beyond almost, not to play length, 'til the plays over with."

One advantage Greene and the rest of the Georgia players have is the chance to get quality reps in practice. There's not a position that doesn't have NFL talent. For Greene, that means he gets to face NFL-quailty defensive linemen and linebackers every day at practice.

"That's one of the reasons why I came here," said Greene. "I remember I was at the All-American game with Mykel [Williams]. We went against each other in the game, and we both knew we were coming here and, just like, we're gonna see each other every day we don't have any choice but to make each other better. So I just come with the iron sharpens iron mentality to practice against veteran guys like Warren Brinson and Nazir Stackhouse, been around the program a long time, so they definitely know what they're doing."
