Chaz Chambliss Announces Return For 2024 Season

Georgia linebacker Chaz Chambliss announced he will return to Georgia for a final season in 2024.

After a turbulent month that saw Georgia lose twenty players to the transfer portal, the Bulldogs received good news on Wednesday when JACK linebacker Chaz Chambliss announced he will return for his senior season in 2024 during Georgia's media availability ahead of the Bulldogs' matchup with No. 5 Florida State in the Orange Bowl.

He stated that he felt he had a lot of room for improvement on his level of play, when asked what those areas of improvement might be, Chambliss talked about meeting with OLB coach Chidera Uzo-Diribe and really digging into what he needs to do to not only become a better player individually but where he needs to improve on to help the team as a whole.

Chambliss was initially thrust into a prominent role in Georgia's defense at JACK following the season-ending injury that Nolan Smith suffered during Georgia's game against Florida in 2022. As could be expected, it took time for the Carrollton, Georgia native to develop in that role, but his confidence grew and his play steadily improved as the 2022 season progressed. He logged a sack against LSU in the 2022 SEC Championship Game and contributed four total tackles in the 2022 College Football Playoff. In total, Chambliss tallied 12 tackles and 2 sacks during the 2022 season. While the junior did not register a sack in 2023, he amassed 20 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, and 1 interception, playing almost exclusively on standard downs in a role that requires him to set the edge and free up other players to make plays on ball carriers.
