Georgia to Name Josh Crawford as Running Backs Coach
Georgia is no longer without a running backs coach as Georgia Tech wide receivers coach Josh Crawford will be taking the running backs job for the University of Georgia. Crawford is well versed in the recruiting scene here in the state of Georgia having been a long time high school coach prior to entering the college ranks.
Rumblings began earlier in the week of some of the names that could potentially be named the next head football coach at Georgia State. with McGee officially hired, it left Georgia without a running backs coach.
The Panthers' head coaching gig opened up after Shawn Elliot recently decided to make the move to South Carolina to be their tight ends coach. McGee was then quickly linked as someone that both parties were mutually interested in and the news became official Friday. By Sunday evening, Crawford had been tabbed as the next running backs coach at Georgia.
McGee has been a part of the Georgia football program since 2016 when Kirby Smart was first hired by the program. After three seasons as the running backs coach for the Bulldogs, he was then promoted to assistant head coach as well. In 2019 he took over as the team's run game coordinator and has held that title ever since. Prior to arriving in Athens, he spent time at Auburn and Georgia Southern and started out in the Georgia high school football landscape at several programs.
