SOURCES: Brock Bowers Expected to Play vs Ole Miss
After missing Georgia's last two games against Florida and Missouri with a high ankle sprain, All-American tight end Brock Bowers is poised to make his return to the field against Ole Miss on Saturday night in Georgia's home finale, sources tell Dawgs Daily. The reigning Mackey Award winner is dressed out for the game and is expected to play in Georgia's top-10 showdown with Ole Miss.
Bowers initially injured his ankle late in the second quarter in Georgia's game against Vanderbilt on Oct. 14. Two days later, the Napa, California native underwent TightRope surgery in an effort to reduce the recovery period from the typical 6-8 weeks down to 4-6 weeks. Earlier in the week, Georgia Head Coach Kirby Smart and wide receiver Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint provided encouraging updates regarding Bowers' progress in his rehabilitation from his injury, but no definitive word on his status for Saturday's game was provided. His return for Georgia's home finale marks only 26 days from the date of his surgery.
Despite missing each of Georgia's last two games, Bowers still leads the Bulldogs in receptions (41), receiving yards (567), and receiving touchdowns (4). His return will provide a considerable boost to Georgia's offense at a critical time in its schedule.
The Bulldogs and Rebels will square off at 7:00 PM ET Saturday night. The game is set to be broadcast on ESPN.
