Score Predictions: Georgia vs Kentucky
The Georgia Bulldogs are on the road this weekend as they travel up to Kentucky to take on the Wildcats in their final conference game of the regular season. Georgia is a current 22.5-point favorite and recently clinched the eastern division just a weekend ago.
The game will kick off at 3:30 PM ET and will be broadcasted on CBS.
Kentucky is one of two teams in the eastern division to have not yet beaten Kirby Smart since his arrival at Georgia. The Bulldogs have beaten Kentucky by an average of 19 points over their last five meetings. So here is how the staff sees this week's game playing out:
Brooks Austin: Georgia 38, Kentucky 10
Expectations can be tough on a football program. It means you actually have something to live up to, particularly if you're known nationally as a basketball program. What you saw a week ago, Kentucky losing to Vanderbilt at home is the straw that broke the camel's back. This was the No. 8 football team in the country to start the season, now they are 22.5 point underdogs to a football team in Georgia that has everything to play for. This will be a controlled beating for four quarters in the cold. Or at least it's shaping up to be.
Jonathan Williams: Georgia 34, Kentucky 6
Georgia is coming off of a big weekend after clinching the division while Kentucky on the other hand just took a loss to Vanderbilt. The outcome of this game is going to be predicated on how the Wildcats choose to respond to a heartbreaking loss. Kentucky has had to deal with some major offensive struggles and pairing that up with Georgia's shutdown defense is not a recipe for success if you're Kentucky. With that said, I see Georgia jumping out to an early lead and then just chewing the clock the rest of the way to get out of Lexington with a victory.
Christian Kirby II: Georgia 38, Kentucky 10
Georgia is a very banged-up team right now. With the SEC championship in 2 weeks and an extremely cold road game coming up this Saturday, Kirby Smart will most likely try to get in and out with a victory as quickly and injury-free as possible. Georgia's defense should have no problem stopping a Kentucky offense that is barely averaging 23 points a game and the Bulldogs should be able to have success in the run game against an average Kentucky front. Expect a short, run-heavy game where the 2's get a good amount of 4th quarter reps for Georgia.
Christian Goeckel: Georgia 31, Kentucky 3
Cold weather, an upcoming SEC Championship, and a fair amount of injuries. Not exactly the recipe for a shootout. Georgia has shown a propensity for jumping out to early leads and taking its foot off the pedal. Kentucky isn't great at anything, but they're pretty good at a few things. The only problem is those things match up with what Georgia does well. Their best offensive threat is running back Chris Rodriguez (122 ypg). The Bulldogs haven't allowed a 100-yard rusher all year. Lexington is a tough place to play, but this season the talent gap is just too wide.
