Jordan Hall Should be a Big Difference Maker on Georgia's Defensive Line

Georgia's defensive front is deep in 2024 but it's lacking an explosive playmaker. Jordan Hall is a candidate to fill that role.

Very few places in sports have a learning curve steeper than the line of scrimmage in the SEC. It's an all-out war every play against multiple athletes that are the biggest, fastest, and meanest in the game, many of whom will be playing in the NFL.

The curve is especially steep for freshmen linemen, who just a year prior were playing against other 18-year-olds, and are now facing grown men. Georgia's Jordan Hall can relate to that experience, having received some valuable reps as a freshman.

"It has been a very good learning experience for me honestly," said Hall during an interview with the Players' Lounge. "Just learning how to take coaching, and learn how to be coached, and learn different ways to play the game. So all in all, it was just a great experience as a freshman going into, mainly all the games, the experience... just taking the good with the bad."

The 6-foot-4 Hall played in 10 games on the defensive line for Georgia this past season as a freshman. His role wasn't immediately evident as the season started, but he eventually carved out a path as the season wore on, in big part because of the coaching and support of head coach Kirby Smart. Hall discussed how Smart's motivation and guidance confirmed to him that he had chosen the right school.

"It really came up to me later on in the season. Just the belief that Coach Smart had in me going into different games like Tennessee when Warren [Brinson] went down. He came to me in practice and told me like Monday going into the week that they're gonna need me a lot more this week. So just having that belief in me. I felt like that really amplified my game and gave me the reassurance that I needed as a player you know, I'm saying like, I come in and practice hard every day and know that your coach is looking forward to having you and just basically be there for you."

Now, as a sophomore, Jordan Hall will be looked to for more production this season. Warren Brinson and a host of other upperclassmen are returning, but Hall's talent should get him on the field. He's not resting on that talent, however. He's refining his game in a big way.

"On the field, just implementing my pass-rush game a lot more. I mean, I'm still working on defending the run. But honestly, just everything. Honestly, just everything. Go into the season with a clean slate. And we're trying to improve and everything day by day and little by little."
