What Do Early Betting Lines Mean For Georgia Football?
As the offseason marches on, the growing anticipation of the 2024 season has led to some sportsbooks already placing odds on a handful of games. As well as favorites to win the national title. But fans and gamblers alike may notice one thing in particular about the Georgia Bulldogs.
Along with being the odds-on favorites to win the national championship game, the Bulldogs seem to be favored in each of their most challenging matchups of the season. These matchups include the team's games against Texas, Alabama, and Ole Miss. As well as a matchup against the Clemson Tigers in Atlanta to open the season.
What makes this such an impressive feat is that all four of those matchups will likely be against top-15 teams and will all be played away from Athens, with three out of the four being road games.
While the odds being so high in the Bulldogs' favor is impressive, it should not come as a shock. After all, the Bulldogs were three points away from their third straight playoff birth last season and will be returning their starting quarterback Carson Beck. But these odds may represent something bigger for the Dawgs moving forward.
The Bulldogs' favoritism by oddsmakers in next year's schedule seems to indicate that Georgia has become the premier program in college football. While the Dawgs have been favored in nearly all their games over the past two seasons, the fact that they are favored against such formidable opponents on the road shows how much faith oddsmakers and experts have in this program.
Kirby Smart and his team certainly have high expectations for themselves heading into the 2024 season. But the latest odds in the Bulldogs' favor show that for the time being, the Bulldogs are viewed as the most dominant team in college football.
