2020 Recruiting Class: Tate Ratledge Breakdown
It's clear that 4-Star offensive tackle Tate Ratledge lacks nothing in the frame or size department. At 6'7 315 pounds, Ratledge will step on campus in 2020 with a good chance to earn early playing time.
Current UGA tackles Andrew Thomas and Isiah Wilson both have a chance to be in an NFL Camp this time next year. Thomas is currently projected as the best tackle available in the 2020 NFL Draft, and Wilson has only started one season at Right Tackle for UGA so far, but after a solid year he could leave as well.
Ratledge certainly took the depth chart situation at Georgia in consideration during his decision, and despite the majority of his family, especially his dad being Tennessee fans, Ratledge has chosen UGA.
The film shows a handful of attributes that will lead to early success for Ratledge, starting with his athleticism. For such a large young man, Ratledge displays quick feet. Seeing as he comes from a Single-A program in Rome, Georgia, he was asked to play a lot of defensive snaps as well and his mobility was on full display.
Hell, Ratledge is even his high school team's punter. Last season he averaged over 39 yards per punt. So, if UGA ever gets in a bind on the special teams unit, their monster of tackle has things under control.
The best part of Ratledge's game, however, is the fact that he just plays pissed off. Watch his reps at the open here in Atlanta. In one on one situations without pads on, Ratledge is continuously denying the pass rush from high-level prospects such as himself.
Watch the reaction from the offensive lineman around Ratledge as he continues to bounce defenders off the turf. There are even a couple of times were defenders are visibility angry with the maliciousness in which Ratledge attacked the reps. This kid is tough & nasty.
