Joseph Jonah-Ajonye Commits to Georgia

Georgia has yet another commit in the 2024 recruiting class as defensive end Joseph Jonah-Ajonye announced that he'd be playing his college football with the Bulldogs.

Georgia has yet another commit in the 2024 recruiting class as defensive end Joseph Jonah-Ajonye announced that he'd be playing his college football with the Bulldogs. 

Jonah-Ajonye was on the record prior to his visit that all he needed out of the visit was to confirm his feelings, telling Jeff Sentell of Dawgnation "If I feel it, whenever I feel it, I might go ahead and commit." 

The Oak Ridge High School product by way of Nigeria was a mere 240 pounds this time last year. Since that time he's bolstered up to 270 pounds at 6'5 and has even more room to grow. Jonah-Ajonye told Dawgs Daily that the relationship with Chidera Uzo-Diribe, a fellow Nigerian-American man himself, was a key factor in his decision. Jonah-Ajonye chose the Bulldogs over Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Oregon. 

Jonah-Ajonye told Dawgs Daily in his exclusive commitment announcement that Georgia would be leaving him be at the defensive end position. So, though Uzo-Diribe played a role in his recruitment, it was Travion Scott's job to sell him on the mission once he got to Georgia. Jonah-Ajonye relishes the opportunity to play in the Defensive End role at Georgia, a spot that's seen the likes of Travon Walker and Mykel Williams flourish over the last several seasons. 

Georgia has climbed atop all of the active recruiting rankings for the 2024 class, it seems inevitable they will finish at No. 1. The question now becomes, how historically highly will this class be rated? Do they have the chance to surpass Texas A&M's 2022 signing class?

Georgia now has twenty commits in the 2024 class, with six in the 2025 class.
