Auburn's Offensive Players to Watch Against Georgia
The Auburn Tigers' new head coach, Hugh Freeze, has been known for his offensive wizardry in all of his head coaching stops, such as Ole Miss and Liberty. In his first four games with the Tigers, Freeze's offense has been lacking in regards to its explosiveness, he expects, but they have plenty of offensive players that can make a big impact at any point in the game and that you should watch this Saturday against Georgia.
Running Back Room
Freeze has to be happy with the job his running backs coach, Carnell Williams, has done with his position group thus far. The "War Eagles," or Tigers, boast five rushers who have over 100 yards total and have accounted for eight of Auburn's 15 offensive touchdowns. The leading rusher is Jarquez Hunter, who has 143 yards on the year. He had 53 yards against Texas A&M last weekend, a total Georgia hasn't given up thus far. Georgia will likely shut down their rush game like other teams this season.
Jay Fair
Jay Fair has been Payton Thorne's top target four games into the season. He has 184 receiving yards on 15 receptions and added two touchdowns to go along with it. But the 5' 10" slot receiver has seen his biggest games against Samford, UMass, and Cal. Against Texas A&M, he had just one reception for ten yards. The Bulldogs should lock him down as well.
Offensive Line
The Tigers' offensive line has consistently given up pressure this season, and they’ve struggled giving up critical sacks, pushing the offense out of the redzone and limiting scoring opportunities. They gave up two sacks a week ago against Texas A&M that drove them out of field goal range. Though they have helped the six running backs get to over 100 yards per player, they have also given up ten sacks. When Georgia played South Carolina, whose offensive line may be worse in regards to pass pro, the Dawgs had seven tackles for loss and three sacks. They should do the same to Auburn's line.
Although their offense hasn't been stellar out of the gates, like what Hugh Freeze is used to, there are still plenty of weapons on Auburn's offense to hurt or help Georgia's defense. This Saturday in Jordan-Hare Stadium will be another exciting game between these two rivals.
