ESPN Releases Pre-Season FPI Top-25 Rankings

ESPN has released its pre-season FPI rankings for the top-25. See where the Bulldogs are ranked.

The offseason is an excruciatingly slow time for football fans. The long months without any football forces many hardcore fans to consume and bask in loads of news that holds little relevance to the season.

The most recent examples of this, are the Football Power Index (FPI) rankings. A ranking system that creates a top-25 not based on personal opinion but on what a college team would beat another average college team by an average score. Despite a perfect season in 2022 and back-to-back national titles, the Georgia Bulldogs are currently ranked third on this list behind Ohio State and Alabama.

Georgia defeated Ohio State by a score of 42-41 in what was an instant classic in the 2023 Peach Bowl. It should be noted, that both starting quarterbacks from that game (Stetson Bennett and C.J. Stroud) are no longer with their respective teams.

While Georgia's ranking (along with other teams) can certainly draw criticisms from many. It should once again be noted that these rankings should not be taken too seriously at this point in the offseason.
