Five-Star KJ Bolden Commits to Florida State Football
Mike Norvell and his staff are ecstatic after picking up a commit from the nation's top-rated safety in KJ Bolden. Bolden, a teammate of Dylan Raiola's at Buford H.S. in Georgia, chooses the Florida State football program over programs such as Georgia, Auburn, Alabama, and Ohio State.
Norvell has spent a lot of his scholarship availability investing in his future offense, landing commits from Landen Thomas and Luke Kromenhoak, who are both top-7-rated players within the state of Georgia. Landing Bolden will surely make waves on the recruiting trail for the Seminoles. Bolden was last in Tallahassee, FL, on an unofficial visit in early April. Bolden joining FSU helped bump up their 2024 recruiting class rankings and may even have solidified all they wanted to do for that class.
Georgia seemed to be the front-runner for a long time, but Bolden chose to go elsewhere. What does this mean for Georgia? Kirby Smart and his staff were holding that scholarship spot for Bolden. Now they can create a more luxurious offer for other prospects they are after, such as Williams Nwaneri or a possibility of a fourth receiver to the class. Nonetheless, the Dawgs are starting to wrap things up for the 2024 recruiting class.
Here's what Brooks Austin had to say about Bolden
FRAME: Long-limbed at 6'1, Bolden rest around the 185-pound range entering his senior year. No different than most freshmen, he'll need another 10 to 15 pounds in college but has plenty of room to do so.
Athleticism: A multi-time state champion on the track, KJ Bolden is one of the more explosive athletes in the 2024 class, having played both ways his entire career at Buford highschool here in Georgia. He's an extremely fluid athlete, as well as one that will test extremely well when asked to do so on the NFL level.
Instincts: When the ball is in the air, there are few prospects you'll find that track it as well as Bolden does. He takes angles as if he is a center fielder tracking fly balls. He plays center field safety with tremendous ease and has the ability to arrive at the football first.
Polish: Coming from Buford, there are few football terms or concepts he won't understand. He's also been an avid 7on7 player, and one that's played for several teams throughout his summers, sometimes multiple at a time — with ZERO problems for play or concept retention.
Bottomline: His teammates love him, coaches love to coach him, and he has a relatively limitless physical pedigree barring he puts the problem muscle mass on in college. There's good reason to believe that developed correctly, Bolden should be a starter midway through his freshman season and should provide your defense the ability to be multiple in the backend.
