Five-Star Tight End Landen Thomas Flips to Florida State
Georgia for the past few years now has recruited the tight end position arguably better than anyone else in the country. Tight end coach Todd Hartley has been relentless on the recruiting trail and has reeled in some of the nation's best at the position every single year. One of those players is five-star Landen Thomas who is a part of the 2024 class but has now flipped his commitment from Georgia to Florida State.
Thomas initially committed to Georgia back in July of 2022. He is rated as the number one tight end in the country, the fifth-best player in the state of Georgia and a top 25 player national according to 247sports. Thomas gave his pledge to the Bulldogs just a couple of days after current Georgia commit Ny Carr did last summer.
With how well Georgia has recruited and developed the tight end position as of late, losing out on premiere in-state talent has not been a common site. The Bulldogs are currently loaded down at the position with Brock Bowers, Oscar Delp, Pearce Spurlin, and Lawson Luckie currently on the roster, which could understandably deter other prospects from joining the depth chart.
There is still a long way to go before the 2024 class officially comes to a close and the Bulldogs will likely do their best to remain in the mix all the way to the end of this recruitment, but for now, they have some ground to make up if they want to land the best tight end prospect for the upcoming class.
