Five Ways Georgia Can Improve in Week Two

The Georgia Bulldogs will have another "tune-up" game this Saturday before they begin SEC play. Here are five ways they can improve this week.

The No.1 ranked Georgia Bulldogs opened their 2023 season with a dominating win against the UT-Martin Skyhawks in week one. But despite their 41-point victory, there is still a lot of work to be done prior to their matchup against Ball State. Here are five ways the Georgia Bulldogs can improve in week two.

Play More "On-Time" in Passing Game

While week one rust, a new quarterback, and a handful of injuries and new faces at the receiver position certainly played a factor into this, the Bulldogs' timing and rhythm were off on a few throws throughout the game. While it is virtually impossible to play a flawless game, and by no means did the Bulldogs' offense play badly. This is an area that the Bulldogs can improve on to take their offense to the next level.

Get a Better Push at the Line of Scrimmage

Much of the criticisms regarding Georgia's offense in week one revolved around the team's ability to run the ball up the middle. While the offensive line looked much improved following their second-half adjustments. Starting faster and creating holes will be a must for Georgia's rushing attack in week two.

Remained Disciplined on Defensive Assignments

While this is certainly a nitpick (as are most of these) the Bulldogs did have a few plays where players did seem to be out of place or missing an assignment on the defensive side of the ball. Cleaning up mental mistakes such as these in the following weeks will allow Georgia's defense to become even more of a juggernaut than it already is.

Become More Efficient in Downfield Passes

Though Mike Bobo's playcalling was somewhat vanilla (understandably so) in week one. The Bulldogs weren't exactly perfect when they did take downfield shots. Getting players like Arian Smith and Ladd McConkey (when healthy) will allow the Bulldogs to become a legitimate downfield threat in the passing game.

Get Healthy

The Bulldogs were fairly depleted as far as injuries go in week one. With multiple starters and key contributors either banged up or missing time. Getting healthy and staying healthy will be imperative if they want to make a run at a third straight national title.
