Georgia Bulldog Names to Learn Before the 2023 Season
In less than 10 days, the Georgia Bulldogs' 2023 season will officially be underway and the months of hypotheticals and questions will finally be put to rest.
While the Bulldogs possess a slew of major-name players heading into the 2023 season, there is also a handful of players who have yet to emerge as superstars. Here is a list of a few players who have a chance to garner national attention before the season is over.
Nazir Stackhouse
The Bulldogs had the privilege of playing three first-round picks on the defensive line over the past two seasons. However, Jalen Carter's departure to the 2023 NFL Draft has left a noticeable absence in the Bulldogs' interior defensive line.
Enter Nazir Stackhouse, a 6-foot-3 senior from Stone Mountain, Georgia. Throughout his time with the Bulldogs, Stackhouse has shown flashes of being an elite force on the Bulldogs' D-line. With him being the main guy for the Bulldogs' 2023 defense. The senior could be in for a very special season.
Cash Jones
The recent injury developments in the Bulldogs' running back room have allowed for this former walk-on to have an excellent chance at becoming Georgia's featured back for the 2023 season.
Jones, a Brock, Texas native has garnered much praise from fellow coaches and players throughout the team's fall camp. In fact, Jones may currently be one of the most versatile backs in the room. As he has the ability to be a large part of the Bulldogs' passing game
Joenel Aguero
Last season, freshman Malaki Starks burst onto the scene early as a key member of Georgia's secondary in 2022. This year, many believe that Joenel Aguero has the same opportunity to make some noise in his freshman season.
Aguero, a former 5-star has reportedly been taking a lot of reps with the Bulldogs' star position and has flashed great athleticism and could make some massive plays for Georgia this season.
Mekhi Mews
Special teams are somewhat of an "under the radar" group when it comes to offseason hype. However, Mekhi Mews could quickly become a nightmare for opposing special teams coordinators.
Standing at just 5-foot-8, Mews uses his elite quickness and speed to evade opposing tacklers. He showcased these skills during Georgia's spring scrimmage when he broke free on a handful of punt returns.
These Bulldogs will have an opportunity to showcase their skills and jump onto even more radars when the Bulldogs host the UT-Martin Skyhawks in Athens. Kickoff for this matchup is currently set for 6 p.m.
