Bold Predictions for Georgia vs Ole Miss
The Georgia Bulldogs are preparing for their final home game of the 2023 season as they host the 8-1 Ole Miss Rebels. This will be the 47th meeting between the two teams in a series that the Bulldogs currently lead 32-13-1.
The last time these two teams met was all the way back in 2016 when a Hugh Freeze-led Rebels team crushed the Bulldogs by a score of 45-14 in Oxford. The loss would be Smart's first head coaching career and begin a skid where the Dawgs lost four of their next five games during the 2016 season.
So as we inch closer to kickoff for the primetime matchup, here are three bold predictions for the Bulldogs.
Dawgs Create Havoc
While Ole Miss has a great offense, they haven't exactly been great in the offensive line department. They're 80th in the country for sacks allowed, as they have given up 20 total sacks on the season and are averaging a little over two per game. Georgia's defense has not been known for creating sacks this season, but they have shown the ability to create disruption in the pocket when they need to, and they will on Saturday. Early down success is crucial for Georgia's defense to keep Lane Kiffin's offense out of four-down territory consistently, and getting Jaxson Dart to the ground is one way to do that.
Ladd McConkey Goes Nuclear
During the absence of Brock Bowers, the veteran wide receiver Ladd McConkey is who the passing game has leaned on. Over the last two games, he has 13 receptions for 230 receiving yards and a touchdown. The Rebels' defense has more than just one issue on defense this year, but a major one is their lack of ability to get players to the ground. On the flip side, one of McConkey's biggest strengths is creating yards after the catch, and he will do plenty of that on Saturday. McConkey could be in store for a monstrous day against this Ole Miss defense.
It's Happening
It's been the biggest discussion all week, and Georgia fans and college football fans in general for that matter are interested to see whether or not star tight end Brock Bowers plays against Ole Miss this weekend. It sounds like Bowers, to no surprise, has been on a quick road to recovery and is doing everything he can to play one last time at Sanford Stadium. I think fans not only see 19 trot out onto the field in full uniform this weekend, but I think they will see him make some plays during the game as well.
