Georgia Football Equipment Staff Teases Black Uniforms for Saturday's Matchup Against UAB

Georgia Football's equipment staff might have just dropped a hint that the Bulldogs will be wearing black for Saturday's game.

It has been over 15 seasons since the University of Georgia first dawned their iconic "Blackout" jerseys against the Auburn Tigers. Since then, the uniform combination has been a favorite amongst fans and players alike.

But despite the popularity of the uniforms, the Bulldogs have rarely actually worn their "blackout" jerseys in an actual game. In fact, the last time the team did so was all the way back in the 2020 season when the Bulldogs defeated the Cincinnati Bearcats in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl by a score of 24-21.

Since then, the return of the illusive black jerseys has been a mystery. But a handful of social media posts by Georgia's equipment staff may be hinting at a return for the fan favorites this Saturday.

The first hint was posted earlier this Thursday when the staff's Instagram posted a photo of a Georgia and UAB helmet side by side. What is interesting about the photo is the song choice that was used in the background. The song in question is Alannah Myles's 1989 hit titled "Black Velvet".

If this seems like a pure coincidence (which it could be), the account also posted a video showing the equipment staff preparing the team's gameday pants. While the video at first glance seems trivial, those with a keen eye may notice something hanging in the corner...

Could this be a pure coincidence or a vicious prank being pulled by the team's equipment staff on the fans? Yes. But the prospect of the Dawgs exiting the tunnel in black jerseys will surely be enough to get the fans even more excited for Saturday's game against UAB.
