What Fans Should Expect From Georgia on G-Day

With Georgia’s Spring Game this Saturday, here are a few things Bulldog fans should expect to see from their team.

After nearly three months without college football, the Georgia Bulldogs will return to the Sanford Stadium this Saturday to play in their annual spring scrimmage or "G-Day Game". Though the competion on the field will certainly be competitive, this game will serve more as a measuring stick for coaches and players as opposed to what an actual game will look like during the 2023 season. With that said, here are a few things that fans should expect to see.

Georgia Will Throw the Ball... Alot.

Not only are the Bulldogs in the midst of an incredibly tight quarterback battle, the Dawgs are also coming into this scrimmage more banged up than usual. Expect Mike Bobo's first appearance as Georgia's new offensive coordinator to feature alot of passing to give new quarterbacks and receivers good reps, while also limiting contact amongst linemen, running backs, and line backers.

Play Will Look Very Sloppy at Times

Keep in mind, that this is still spring ball and there are alot of new players that have not played a snap of collegiate football. The offense is also currently in the midst of a coordinator change so it is likely that there will be a fair amount of mental mistakes from players as well. Kirby Smart already illuded to this in a media presser a few weeks ago. Spring football is about finding the best football players on your roster, not for finding the best football plays in your playbook.

New Faces Will Make the Biggest Impact

Georgia's 2023 recruiting class is litered with elite talent that has the potential to make some massive plays on Saturday. On top of that, the Bulldogs also made a few additions to their offense via the transfer portal after the 2022 season. Expect for Kirby Smart and company to give these young/new players ample opportunities to showcase themselves and potentially earn a spot in the starting roster.
