Offensive Players to Keep An Eye On Saturday Against UT-Martin
Kirby Smart and his Georgia Bulldogs have officially wrapped up their fall camp and have started to gear up for game week against the UT-Martin Skyhawks. This game will likely be out of hand for the Skyhawks come the second half, but they will still test plenty of Kirby Smart's players. These players you should keep an eye on this Saturday against UT-Martin.
Running Back Room
Georgia's running back room is bound for a test this Saturday with the severity of injuries to that position group. The Skyhawks' top tacklers from the 2022 season, Robert Hicks and John H. Ford III, have graduated and moved on from the program. The two players accounted for 208 of the team's 856 tackles in the 2022 season. This proves that offenses can work to the second level and beyond that on the Skyhawks' defense. Kendall Milton is almost back to 100% but will likely be limited this Saturday and fellow starter Daijun Edwards is returning from a sprained MCL. That leaves the load of the rushing attempts falling on the likes of Cash Jones, Roderick, and Andrew Paul (who was just cleared from a torn ACL). Which of the three younger backs will flash on Saturday?
Left Tackle
Earnest Greene and Austin Blaske were in a position battle this offseason to see who would replace Broderick Jones at the left tackle position, a battle that Greene seemingly won. Though a sprained ankle in Georgia's second scrimmage has limited his reps leading up to the season opener. We will be watching this position group no matter because considering the talent and depth, they will likely be playing nearly double-digit guys at points this season. Including Saturday.
Mekhi Mews
Mekhi Mews has made strides in elevating the worth of his name throughout the Georgia football facilities. In conversations with ESPN's College Gameday Podcast, Kirby Smart has mentioned how impressed he has been with Mews throughout fall camp. As mentioned before, this is considered a "cupcake" game for the Bulldogs, so plenty of players will get reps in on Saturday. Mews will be one of those players, whether in the returning or receiving departments. Mews could break out this Saturday if things go according to plan.
The Dawgs will return between the hedges this Saturday, September 2nd when they take on the UT Martin Skyhawks at 6 p.m. on ESPN+ and SECN+.
