PHOTOS: Georgia Survives A Fast Start From South Carolina
For the final year in their annual matchup, the guaranteed rivalry game between the South Carolina Gamecocks and the Georiga Bulldogs took place Saturday afternoon in Athens. Next year, for the first time since 1990, the Georgia Bulldogs and the South Carolina Gamecocks will take a year off in their rivalry as the SEC does away with divisions in the conference.
We have all the sites and sounds from the Bulldogs 24 to 14 win over the Gamecocks.
It wasn't the prettiest of wins from Georgia against South Carolina, but it was a win nonetheless. The Bulldogs went into the locker room down 14-3 at halftime, and they came out in the second half swinging, and once they gained the lead, they never looked back.
Head coach Kirby Smart and his program picked up their 20th straight win, and they managed to do it in a comeback fashion. Georgia's defense held strong throughout the game, and the offense found a rhythm in the second half to help capture the win. And much of that credit goes to quarterback Carson Beck, who finished the day with a 77 completion rate, 269 yards and zero turnovers.
Another major contributor today was running back Daijun Edwards. Georgia's running back room has been trying to find a form of identity in the first two weeks while trying to get guys healthy, and Edwards provided a spark on Saturday. He missed the first two weeks due to injury, and his return was very much noticed. He finished the day with 20 carries and 118 yards with a touchdown. South Carolina's defense had no answer for him, and Georgia's run game may have finally found something on Saturday.
