Georgia's annual spring game, G Day, is over, and Bulldogs fans have a lot of new names to learn about heading into the Summer and Fall. Let's look at how the new guys did during G Day.

Offense

Dominic Lovett was a part of the Red team during G Day and had an average day, being targeted four times and hauling in two catches for 30 yards. One of those catches was a 20-yard completion in the third quarter from Brock Vandagriff, showcasing his ability to get open in a long down situation. Lovett also returned two punts, with one of those returns going for 15 yards, showcasing his ability in open space. Although it is somewhat of a soft opening for what to expect from Lovett, he still has all of the Summer and Fall to grow into his role.

Lawson Luckie was an early enrolee this Spring, graduating from Norcross High School in Georgia early. He spent time with the national title team in December and January and earned praise from veterans on the roster. Luckie has turned heads around camp during the last two weeks of spring practices, and he showed why during G Day. Hauling in 3 catches for 48 yards, Luckie was Team Black's second-leading receiver for the game.  Luckie had a crucial catch in the final drive for Team Balck, connecting with Vandagriff on 4th and 12 for a 16-yard gain, followed by a touchdown two plays later.

Defense

Damon Wilson II and fellow early enrolee freshmen AJ Harris and C.J. Allen all had excellent days for Team Red. Harris had six tackles with a pass breakup, Allen had five tackles, and Wilson had four tackles and two sacks. The freshman trio made a name for themselves this past weekend and even possibly proved why they deserve a shot to start in the fall. Fellow freshman linebacker Raylen Wilson had an interception that he also returned for a touchdown late in the fourth quarter.

Smoke Bouie was a name coming into the spring that had many Georgia fans excited coming into the spring. The former 4-star DB committed to Texas A&M out of high school. After a subpar year for A&M, Bouie transferred to Georgia for the 2023 season. During G Day, the transfer DB heard his name called once for a solo tackle.

With a lot of change this off-season for Kirby Smart and his Bulldogs, spring football is a great way to look at what the new guys can bring to the table for the 2023 season.
