Friday Night Lights Preview: Prospects Under Georgia's Radar You Could Watch
With the first SEC matchup for the Bulldogs this past weekend with South Carolina coming to town, we saw some of the first faces the Dawgs are trying to get from the 2025 class. Another Friday Night Lights is under preview from Dawgs Daily, and there are some prospects under Georgia's radar that you could watch tonight.
Kirby Smart and his outreach seemingly haven't left the halls of Buford High School. With two commits currently in the 2024 class's No. 4 player, Dylan Raiola, and a 2025 linebacker commit in Jaden Perlotte, KJ Bolden, a Florida State commit, never stops hearing about Georgia and why he should go there. Bolden was just in Athens this past weekend, and the Dawgs are still working on flipping his commitment. Bloden and the Buford Wolves take on Marietta High School at home tonight.
Michai Boireau was on Kirby Smart and Trey Scott's radar over the summer before he committed to the Florida Gators. Boireau recently de-committed from Billy Napier and the Gators and was on campus this weekend to watch the Dawgs take on South Carolina. The big 6' 5" 290lb defensive lineman from Creekside High School will have 4-star interior offensive lineman Caleb Holmes, who is a Pitt commit, also on the field for Creekside and help Boireau and their 3-1 squad take on a Chapel Hill squad on the road that is also 3-1. Ceekside's only season loss came from Nate Frazier's Mater Dei in California, while Chapel Hill's only loss came from Quintavious Johnson's Mays squad. It should be a good matchup between the two schools.
Thomas Blackshear is ranked within the top 45 players for the 2025 class in Georgia and a top 50 at the wide receiver position. The 6' 2" standout WR from Calvary Day School in Savannah, GA, was also on campus for the Gamecocks vs. Bulldogs matchup this past weekend. Also on campus was his opponent for tonight from Savannah Christian Prep, Elijah Griffin. Griffin is the top defensive line recruit and player in Georgia for the 2025 class, according to 247Sports composite rankings. The 6' 5", 285 lb 5-star DL leads his 3-1 team into the 3-star WR's home for Griffin's second conference game of the season. Blackshear will defend his home with his 4-0 squad behind him. There will be some good football played in South Georgia tonight.
Mike Matthews and Cortez Smith are two of Parkview High School's top recruits who have been on Smart's staff's radar for some time. Matthews is one of the top recruits in the state of Georgia for the 2024 class. The 5-star receiver is committed to Tennessee and is likely recruiting Smith to join him in Knoxville, but a visit to Athens this past weekend shows the Dawgs are still in the mix for the 4-star 2025 interior offensive lineman. Dawgs Daily's Brooks Austin will join these standout players for his weekly Friday Night Mic'd series as the Tiers take on the reigning 7A state champions in Mill Creek, who defeated highly touted 2026 USC QB Julian Lewis 70-35. Mill Creek will have 4-star EDGE King Joseph Edwards, 4-star CB and Georgia Tech commit Trajen Greco from the 2024 class out on the field tonight to stop Smith and Matthews. Georgia is recruiting Edwards, but he will likely see other schools before deciding on his future.
Friday nights always bring fun high school games that show many collegiate athletes for all levels. The Peach State is one of the best at growing talented athletes, such as those under Georgia's radar. Having a chance to watch some of the country's future stars in your own backyard is something special.
