Georgia looks to rebound this week versus Kentucky
It's officially time to leave behind what was and to now look forward to what is. This Saturday, the Georgia Bulldogs are staying home to face the Kentucky Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. EST, in Sanford stadium.
The Bulldogs will take the field this Saturday, in a game that I believe is less about the team across from them, and more about what's inside the players and coaches that so proudly where red and black. This is no slight against Kentucky, whatsoever. This is about digging deep and overcoming a mountain of mental and physical errors that piled upon both the staff and players last week against South Carolina.
A loss like the team endured on Saturday surely made each player take a long look in the mirror. What they saw in the mirror will be the difference in what takes the field this week and what we saw on the field last week.
What they needed to see was not only their face, but the faces of each and every other coach and player on the team. It will take a willingness to see the flaws of their own and an understanding that now is the time to lock arms and march together on to the practice field and into the film room, to work and overcome. As a team.
Kentucky will bring a fired up group of Wildcats looking to piggyback off of South Carolina's success last week. Georgia will come out looking to show the world that they are far better than their most recent display.
What changes will we see?
First and foremost, I expect to see a different Jake Fromm. Fromm didn't have his best performance last year in Baton Rouge, but he was able to rebound nicely in his next opportunity vs Florida. He turned a game with 16/34 completions, 209 yards and only 1 TD and 2 Interceptions against LSU into a masterful performance against Florida, where he went 17/24 on completions, 240 yards, and 3 TDs. This sealed the victory for the Bulldogs against one of their biggest rivals in the SEC East.
I also expect to see better play calling to assist the wide receiver group, and their path to creating separation. The offensive staff must put them in position to be successful. A successful wide receiver-unit will force Kentucky to respect our passing game, which in turn, will stop them from being able to fill gaps with linebackers, created by the offensive line.
With a refreshed Jake Fromm and an adjustment to play calling, I expect the Bulldogs to get back in the win column. I also expect a fired up and feisty crowd, ready to support the Bulldogs to light up Dooley Field, like only Georgia fans can.
See you guys in Athens, and as always, Go Dawgs!
