Who Will Be Visiting the Classic City This Summer
School is beginning to wrap up their semesters for high school students, meaning it is summer workout and official visits season. Some big-time recruits have already planned their official visits, so let's see who will be in the Classic City this summer to visit Kirby Smart and his Georgia Bulldogs.
Ohio State WR commit Jeremiah Smith will be in town from Friday, May 19th, to Sunday, May 21st. After a stellar junior season for Chaminade-Madonna Prep, Smart has been trying to flip the 6' 3" WR for some time. The No. 2 player and No. 1 WR for the 2024 class racked up 1,073 yards and 20 TDs. Smart and his staff will get the first chance to impress Smith this summer before he visits Ohio State and Florida. The big pickup of Raiola may play a big factor in recruiting Smith. He has mentioned before how Raiola was one of the reasons this talented WR committed to the Buckeyes; what Smith didn't expect was that Raiola would de-commit from Ohio State the very next day after Smith verbally committed. Who else will be in town this day? None other than Dylan Raiola.
Raiola's recruitment has been fun to watch. It seems like it has been a love triangle between USC, Nebraska, and Georgia. Raiola originally committed to Ohio State but de-committed after the three schools mentioned above recruited Raiola heavily. After a long Winter and Spring, the rumors regarding Raiola's commitment felt swirling. Raiola officially announced his commitment to the G on May 15th, sources have confirmed to DAwgs Daily he will be in town Friday, May 19th.
Friday, June 2nd, is one of the biggest days recruiting-wise for the Bulldogs, as they will be hosting two Georgia commits, Peyton Woodyard and Demello Jones. , but they may also be tasked with recruiting some other players on this visit. The No. 1 DL, Williams Nwaneri, and No. 1 RB, Jerrick Gibson, will be in attendance as well as the No. 3 DL for 2024, Justin Scott, and No. 5 WR, Ryan Wingo.
Williams Nwaneri has been on Tray Scott and Kirby Smart's radar for some time. The Lee's Summit, Missouri native was first offered by the Bulldogs in May 2022 but didn't make his first visit to campus until this March. The 6' 5" 250 lb prospect is every bit of the hype on tape. He is quick off the line, excellent with hand placement, and can play any position on the DL. We have seen player-on-player recruiting all throughout college football, and Georgia fans have seen it a ton since the commitment of Raiola; having Jones and Woodyard on the same visit as Nwaneri may okay a crucial role in landing this big-time recruit.
Jerrick Gibson is a talented RB prospect from IMG Academy in Florida, but he also attended Mundy Mills HS in Georgia, where he won Region 3-AAAAA Player of the Year. Gibson's recruitment has been interesting, to say the least. Attending a camp at Florida in 2021, the Florida native received an offer and committed to the Gators that weekend. Picking up some more offers and a visit to Georgia, Gibson de-committed just seven months later. Now, the elusive running back has four visits lined up this summer, starting with the Dawgs; he will then head to Miami, Tennessee, and then Texas. With just one commit from the 2024 class to add to RBU, Gibson is a major target for Smart.
The Chicago, IL. native, Justin Scott is the No. 3 DL for the 2024 class, and his recruitment has been interesting, just like Raiola's. Scott originally had a commitment date set for January 31st, his birthday, but with Georgia offering him January 17th and having family in Atlanta, Scott postponed his commitment. Scott will be on campus for the second time since postponing his commitment date; with Ohio State being his other visit this summer, Tray Scott and Kirby Smart definitely have their work cut out for them trying to reel in this big-time recruit.
The next weekend some major homegrown talent will be in town. No. 1 safety KJ Bolden and No. 1 LB Sammy Brown will take a 30-minute drive to the Classic City. Bolden is a standout two-way player for Buford High School, helping them secure the 6A state tile in 2021. Aside from being an exceptional football player, Bolden is also a track star for the Wolves. Like Bolden, Brown has been a two-way player for Jefferson High School. In his junior season with the Dragons, Brown tallied 113 tackles, three PBU, and one interception. Also, he rushed for 1,459 yards and 11 TDs. Brown has five visits lined up this summer, with Tennessee, Clemson, Georgia, Ohio State, and Oklahoma. Pairing the two No. 1 defensive players at their respective positions may pay off dividends come summer's end.
Also on this visit will be No. 12 ranked Qb and Dawg commit Ryan Puglisi. This will be an interesting visit for him following the commitment of Raiola. Dawgs Daily reported following the news that Puglisi is still fully committed to the G, but it will be an important visit for someone in Puglisi's position. The Dawgs will close the June visit schedule by hosting Florida safety commit Xavier Filsaime, Georgia WR commit "Nitro" Tuggle, the No. 1 OT Brandon Baker, and the No. 9 EDGE Jamonte Waller.
With all the talent on campus throughout the summer, Kirby Smart and his staff have turned the Classic City into a prime summer vacation spot for major recruits to visit.
