Georgia Senator Demands CFP Committee Add Orange Bowl As Playoff Game

When Florida State was left out of the playoffs, mixed emotions filled the CFP landscape, but one Georgia senator made his opinion regarding the situation known.

Following teams learning where they fell in the final CFP rankings, two deserving programs were left out. The No. 5 Florida State Seminoles and the No. 6 Georiga Bulldogs saw Alabama jump them for the final playoff spot.

There was an uproar about this selection, with it being the first time an undefeated conference champion had missed the playoffs. Demands from lawmakers in Florida for their Seminoles to be added, but one Georgia state senator took it a step further when Colton Moore demanded that the Orange Bowl be added as a College Football Playoff game.

Moore's letter is in return for many Florida government employees seeking legal action against the CGP committee. Florida's Governor, Rob DeSantis, set aside $1 million pending any legal action Florida State will take against the CFP committee. Florida's Attorney General, Ashley Moody, has even opened an investigation into the CFP and Florida State's "snub" from the playoffs.

Instead of continuing the battle for FSU, Moddy listed reasons why the Dawgs are one of the four best teams in the country, citing a litany of reasons that pertain to Georgia's recent success. But, what stands out from Moore's letter is the following excerpt -

"At one point in the future, it may be reasonable to have this Committee replaced by Artificial intelligence because the current intelligence has caused an undue embarrassment to College Football, an injustice upon the State of Georgia, and the University System of Georgia. The University of Georgia is in the top four college football teams in the United States."

Though this is the last year of a four-team playoff format, as Moore noted in his letter, he still urged the committee to make the Orange Bowl a playoff game "and therefore delay the National Championship by one week or otherwise make accommodations," but no other plans of how a six-team format could work.

Despite the unrest from lawmakers, the non-playoff Orange Bowl will kickoff on Dec. 30 at 4 p.m. between the No. 5 Florida State Seminoles and the No. 6 Georgia Bulldogs.
