How Amrius Mims' Injury Effects Georgia Football
Earlier this afternoon, Georgia head coach Kirby Smart revealed that offensive tackle Amarius Mims would be undergoing the famous "tightrope surgery" to replace a sprained ankle that he suffered during Georgia's 24-14 win over South Carolina. There is currently no expected timetable for his return.
Heading into the 2023 season, Mims was expected by many to be the star of the Bulldogs' highly talented offensive line and even rumored to potentially be the first offensive lineman taken in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Without Mims, the Bulldogs will be down a massive contributor on their offensive line and will rely on their depth chart to fill the void for the time being. Georgia moved starting guard Xavier Truss was moved to tackle on Saturday in response to Mims' injury.
