Matchup Rewind: The Last Time Georgia Played UAB

The Georgia Bulldogs are preparing to take on the UAB Blazers this Saturday. Here is what happened the last time these two teams played.

The Georgia Bulldogs are set to wrap up their four-game home stretch this Saturday when they host the UAB Blazers at 7 p.m. The Bulldogs are looking to extend their historic win streak to 21 straight games. A streak that dates back all the way to the 2021 season.

The previous matchup between these two teams took place during week two of the 2021 season when the Bulldogs thrashed the Blazers by a score of 56-7. The only points that the Blazers scored were off of a pick-6 late in the fourth quarter.

The game began with a bit of controversy as Stetson Bennett was named the starting quarterback in response to JT Daniels' injury. Despite the disapproval from fans, Bennett finished with an incredible 288 yards and 5 touchdowns while throwing just two incompletions the entire game.

The game also served as a "coming out" party for numerous current Bulldog contributors such as Brock Bowers and Jamon Dumas-Johnson who at the time, were both true freshmen. Bowers had three receptions for 107 yards, including an 89-yard touchdown reception. While Dumas-Johnson scored a pick-6 of his own in the fourth quarter.

Bowers and the rest of the Bulldogs will look to recreate their previous successes against the Blazers this Saturday. According to ESPN, the Bulldogs currently have a 98.6% chance to win the game.
