This Saturday afternoon, Athens, GA, will be a rave when the South Carolina Gamecocks come to town to take on the reigning champions, the Georgia Bulldogs. It will be the first conference matchup of the season for either team, and the Bulldogs and Gamecocks have some offensive players looking to break out this game. These few players will be worth the watch on Saturday afternoon.

Spencer Rattler

Spence Rattler has helped carry the load of the South Carolina offense in the first two weeks of the season. So far, he has already racked up 698 yards through the air, three touchdowns, and an impressive completion percentage of 83.3%. Against North Carolina, Rattler completed 30 of his 39 passes, and against Furman, he went 25/27. This momentum for Rattler has carried over from the end of their season in 2022 and can also be attributed to learning Shane Beimer's offense even better. This season, Rattler has a chip on his shoulder and is a dark horse Heisman candidate.

Offensive Line

Each team's offensive line will be interesting to watch this weekend. More so for the Gamecocks than Georgia, though, after they gave up nine sacks against North Carolina and allowed negative rushing yards that game (-2). Glenn Schumann and Tray Scott are likely preparing their defensive lineman to wreak havoc on the field Saturday and to create so much chaos at the line of scrimmage that it forces Rattler into uncomfortable situations.

Xavier Legette

The senior from Mullins, S.C., has turned into Rattler's top target early into the 2023 season. Against North Carolina, Legette accounted for 178 of Rattler's 353 passing yards on nine receptions and a long play of 37 yards, averaging 19.8 yards per catch. Against Furman, Legette had 118 receiving yards for a touchdown on just six receptions. Marvin Harrison Jr. was the last receiver to total over 100 receiving yards against Georgia, but Legette could be the next to do so.

Although South Carolina is coming into this game with a tough loss against a ranked North Carolina team, they have learned a lot from that game and have some exceptional weapons to use against Georgia. Could the Gamecocks pull off the biggest upset of the season?
